After a real flop start, the heist shooter Payday 3 will apparently have to make do with significantly fewer resources in the future. Starbreeze still wants to provide players with valuable content in Year 2.
The heist shooter Payday 3 has completed its first year since its release and the developers at Starbreeze Studios probably imagined many things very differently. The new part of the franchise had to struggle with a lot of problems, which is why players stayed away from the title and preferred to continue playing its predecessor, Payday 2.
After several updates and quality-of-life improvements, the tide has at least turned somewhat. The reviews are still mixed, but at times they are definitely better – something that can definitely be seen as a success after the botched start. Nevertheless, Payday 3 will now be able to make do with significantly less resources than before.
On the occasion of a current quarterly report, Starbreeze said that in the future it would operate at a “significantly lower level [in das Spiel] will invest”. Nevertheless, they were also convinced that they would be able to continue to provide the community and the shooter’s players with sufficient valuable content.
Since June 2024, the number of players in Payday 3 has finally climbed again from its initial lows. The development studio emphasized that the numbers were still quite good even after the title left the Xbox Game Pass in September. Starbreeze now wants to maintain the current level of success without having to continue investing such an incredible amount of resources in the game.
How the lower investments in the game will manifest itself in the future remains to be seen. Slower reactions to feedback, less frequent updates or even less new content would be conceivable. We will of course keep you up to date on this!
