Rockstar Games Launcher is mandatory: You cannot secure your free game on Steam or Epic. The in-house launcher from Rockstar Games is m andatory and you can’t avoid the platform anyway if you want to secure the GTA Trilogy and thus your free game.

After that you won’t be able to secure a free Rockstar game anymore, but the classic versions of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas will still end up in your library regardless of whether you buy the GTA Trilogy.
