“Percy Jackson” is coming back in series soon on Disney +. Can we expect a guest appearance from the former Annabeth Alexandra Daddario in the new adaptation?
- Disney is currently working on a series adaptation of the “Percy Jackson” novel series.
- The two films will not be continued, but will be overwritten by the series.
- Maybe we will see former Annabeth actress Alexandra Daddario again on Disney + anytime soon?
With 5 successful novels and various other books from the same universe, the “Percy Jackson” series by Rick Riordan is ideal for a number of film adaptations. 20th Century Fox thought so too and therefore adapted the first two novels, albeit without great success.
Meanwhile, the film rights to the books are with Disney and they are working on a new start. However, the novels are now to be turned into a series for Disney +, in which each season tells the story of a novel. So the story can be told in great detail, because the books are all relatively short.
So “Percy Jackson” fans are optimistic about the future, but they still have a long waiting time ahead of them. Although the author Rick Riordan is actively involved in the scripts for the series, no actors have been hired and filming will start in summer 2022 at the earliest, which means a start in 2023.
In the podcast Unwrapped Alexandra Daddario, who starred in the two “Percy Jackson” films as Annabeth, spoke about a possible guest appearance on the series.
No! No, I loved Percy Jackson. […] And I learned so much and then had a career that I wished for. And that’s amazing. I’m so excited for the kids who [für der Serie] be cast and a new generation […] will inspire. I mean, it’s so cool, Annabeth is a really inspirational character to a lot of people. But no, I don’t know any more than that and neither should I. I was just a girl in the movie.
Nowadays, remakes and reboots rarely do without cameos from previous actors, but with “Percy Jackson” it actually makes more sense to forego such appearances. The new series is based solely on the books and not on the earlier films, so comparisons should not be made here and Disney will not want to refer to the films any further.
Disney will presumably rely on young and still relatively unknown actors for the cast, only prominent names can perhaps be found for the gods. We will certainly find out more about “Percy Jackson” in the course of the year when filming starts. By then you will find many more highlights in the Disney + novelty program.
