Despite some very good news for Persona 3 players, with the announcement of three expansions for Reload, bad news has dashed fans’ hopes.
Persona fans have been served since the beginning of February. First with the release of Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the PS2 game, then with the recent announcement of its DLC. The Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass will be split into three parts and rolled out in waves throughout the year. The first two contain music from other titles in the license. Several costumes are also planned. But the most interesting thing is the third expansion. It is expected to include the major DLC Aigis – The Answer in September, which FINALLY offers players a new epilogue. However, this story is not new. It comes directly from the FES version, an improved version of the original software. This announcement pleases some, but fans wanted more, especially additions related to the PSP edition. Unfortunately, the producer has just extinguished their hopes.
No more hope for Persona 3 Reload
With its re-release on PSP, Persona 3 revealed a lot of new features, but most importantly a new playable character. Players then had the option to follow the story with the base hero Makoto or choose his female version: Kotone. Choosing the latter meant fans were in for a completely new adventure with new interactions and a completely redesigned user interface. With the announcement of the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass, it could have been part of the DLC additions. Only, according to the producer, Kotone has no chance of returning.
“I’m really sorry for Kotone, but unfortunately there’s no chance [son retour] happen. Of course we thought about planning a female protagonist, but the hurdles were too high. “Development would have taken longer and cost more than just producing Episode Aegis.”explained Wada Kazuhisa Famistu. Kotone is therefore too time-consuming an addition and is not the focus. Following this answer, the producer also explains that the team needs to work on it first “Completely new works” . He didn’t give an example, but we can assume that he wants to focus on the essentials.
Therefore, to play with Kotone you need to get Persona 3 Portable or contact the work of the community. Modders didn’t wait for Atlus to integrate Heroin into Reload. Unfortunately, this is just an appearance change using Makoto’s template and has no effect on dialogs or menus.
