Peter Molyneux is not exactly known for modesty. His bold promises about games and their mechanics caught up with him on a number of occasions, earning him a reputation as a steam talker in the industry. Apparently he hasn’t learned anything from the past, because his statements about his new project are once again extravagant.
Peter Molyneux became known above all for titles that offer you immense freedom. He is also generally regarded as the inventor of god simulations. His most famous works include Populous, Black & White, Dungeon Keeper and Fable. For a few years now, however, he has not made a name for himself with innovative games; instead, no project has made it across the finish line.

This circumstance is particularly tricky due to the interviews by and with Molyneux. Because he doesn’t like to keep his ambitions behind the scenes and tends to use superlatives to describe them.
Apparently the creative mind hasn’t learned from past mistakes, at least that’s what a conversation with GameReactor at the Gamelab conference in Barcelona suggests. He did not reveal any specific details about his new game so as not to create unreasonable expectations. That would only anger the fans if he ultimately couldn’t keep his promises.
If you read through the rest of the conversation, this plan might not work out completely. He continues: “I think we stumbled on something, a mechanic that hasn’t been seen in any game before. It feels like we’re exploiting this mechanic in a world and environment that people are familiar with could happen. And because it’s a familiar setting, it’s going to be a lot fresher. I’m being vague on purpose, because I don’t want to tell you exactly what the game is like. It’s going to feel a lot like a Fable Black and -Feel like the White Dungeon Keeper experience.”
The previous ludography of his studio 22Cans consists mainly of smartphone titles, but the new game is definitely coming to consoles and PC. It is also the first project in a long time in which he is actually involved as a programmer. This makes it something special for Molyneux and is very important to him.
