From Infogrames to PlayStation, Xbox and Stadia, a man who has managed to make headlines in the video game industry. The JV editorial team invites you to discover the story of Phil Harrison, the true gravedigger of the video game industry, through a new video by JV LEGENDS.

A man who may or may not be ahead of his time.

The history of the professional life of Phil Harrison started out as a game designer and graphic designer quite early in the 80’s. He’s trying to make a name for himself in various English studios. Iintegrate it Sony 1992 and witnessed the first golden years of the PlayStation. He is gifted, has big ambitions and will shine more than ever before he falls. He will be in charge of various projects, most notably the PS3, which in its early days will have very little support from its big exclusives arriving late on the machine. After Sony, it’s now Infogrames’ turn to follow suit. The company challenges him to try to revolutionize the world of gaming. After taking over Atari, Phil Harrison decides to make a first takeover, unfortunately Infograme is in trouble and the accounts are in the red.

In this JV LEGENDS we follow the journey of a great man who always arrives at the worst moment and leaves when the company takes off again.

The inclusion of Stadia

Phil Harrison is at the helm, joining Google which gives him one of the highest management positions for a cloud gaming project. Stadia burns its wings because The service promises too much in its presentations and starts several projects at the same time, too early to start. The Stadia project has a number of bugs, the Dreamcast continuity is not very competitive and the main platform runs on Linux, in addition to an unattractive catalog of games.

Stadia was quickly forgotten. Phil Harrison, announced the closure of Stadia Studios and will be going out of business effective January 18th.
