Google is expanding its range of hardware products. From summer 2022 you will be able to buy the Pixel Buds Pro in addition to the well-known in-ear headphones Pixel Buds A. With our comparison you can find out which model is right for you.
Design
Let’s start with the most obvious differences. The design of the Buds A is monochromatic and there is only a choice between the colors white and dark green. In the case of the Pro variant, the headphones have an upbeat design with two colors. Here you have the choice between Coral (black and orange), Fog (black and gray), Charcoal (dark gray and black) and Lemongrass (green and black). The charging case is white for all variants.
sound and battery life
One of the most important features in in-ear headphones these days is ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). This allows ambient noise to be filtered at the touch of a button, which is an advantage in noisy environments. However, only the Pixel Buds Pro have this technology, the A series does not have the feature.
The Pixel Buds Pro also have the edge when it comes to battery life. The headphones can be used for 11 hours without noise canceling and 7 hours if the function is activated. According to Google, the Series A has a maximum runtime of 5 hours. With the charging case, the total playback time for the A model is up to 24 hours, compared to a whopping 31 hours for the Buds Pro.
functions
In addition to noise canceling, the Pixel Buds Pro also have a transparency mode that allows you to hear outside noises even though you are wearing your headphones. Furthermore, the charging case can be charged wirelessly, while that of the A series still has to be charged by cable.
Both models have voice control and the Google Assistant, which also enables real-time translations. Additionally, both headphones are sweat and water resistant. However, only the microphone of the Buds Pro is protected from the wind by a cover.
touch operation
Another difference is the touch control. With both headphones, classic actions such as answering calls or skipping a song can be performed by touch. With the Pro headphones, the volume can also be adjusted directly on the headphones.
price and availability
For the Pixel Buds A you currently pay 99 dollars on Google. The Pixel Buds Pro, on the other hand, will be available from this summer for 219 dollars.
