Plague Inc. is currently a very popular epidemic game in which we have to infect the world with a virus. Of course, this gets a somewhat unpleasant aftertaste these days, considering the rapid spread of the coronavirus Covid-19.
The whole situation has had an impact on Plague Inc, both positive and negative. Now the developers have taken new steps and are turning their game concept upside down: A new mode should ensure that we save the world from a pandemic
Plague Inc. gets new game mode
The idea for the new mode came up after the developers were increasingly asked whether they could develop such an anti-virus game. In an official blog entry on their website, the British studio has now announced that they will start working on the mode.
It will be about reducing the spread of a virus as much as possible. To do this, we need to improve health systems and coordinate global measures. Everyone has probably heard of steps such as quarantine, social distancing and the closure of public institutions. In the new mode for Plague Inc. you will have to take these safety precautions into your own hands.
The mode is completely free for all owners of Plague Inc., but he doesn't have a release date yet. Since work is only just beginning, it will probably take a few weeks, if not months.

Developers donate a quarter of a million
For the new mode, the developers of Plague Inc. are working closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI). This collaboration came about when the studio donated $ 250,000 to both organizations.
James Vaughn, the inventor of Plague Inc., explains this step as follows:
"Eight years ago, I could never have imagined that the real world could be like a round of Plague Inc. or that so many people play Plague Inc. to get through an actual pandemic. We pride ourselves on doing the work that is essential by WHO and CEPI as they search for vaccine for Covid-19. "
In the blog entry, the developers again point out that everyone can make a contribution. For example, by supporting the WHO Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund with a donation.
