The developer studio PlatinumGames would like to make more of its own statements at the beginning of 2020. While we have to wait for fresh information and impressions about Bayonetta 3, the first cat has already been released: The studio is financially much better positioned in the future.
The reason for this is the fact that the Chinese giant Tencent is giving the men of PlatinumGames a noticeable financial injection. Fans of the studio do not have to worry about a takeover in this context: The existing company structure should be retained and Platinum will continue to operate independently on the market.
The financial injection will enable the studio to appear as a publisher in the future. In other words, PlatinumGames will no longer be just a developer studio, but will also publish its own games, so it does not need any other cooperation. This could include Bayonetta 3 or the promising Babylon's case.
"We hope that we can use this capital to strengthen our business fundamentals and move from pure game development to independent publishing," the announcement said. In addition, the new partnership with Tencent should also enable a "broader global perspective" without having to move away from high-quality games or your own name.
