Controlling the Elden Ring with just your mind? This works out!
Forget dance pads or Guitar Hero controllers, one streamer is playing through Elden Ring with sheer mind power. And even beats tough bosses like Malenia and Elden Beast. In this article you can find out what it looks like and how the technology behind it works.

Streamerin Perrikaryal defeated Malenia in this clip without a traditional controller. She moves her figure by thought impulses. It also carries out all other actions such as attacks or healing. Take a look at the triumphant end of the fight for yourself:

How does it work? Perrikaryal uses an EEG sensor, which you can also see in the video (the fancy head contraption). This sensor is programmed to convert your thought impulses into input. For example, the streamer imagines pushing an object away to move her character one step forward.
Such EEG sensors together with a brain-computer interface have long been used not only in research, but also, for example, for paralyzed people, who can use them to operate PCs. Or just for game control. According to Perrikaryal, it’s actually easier in practice than it looks.
By now, Perrikaryal has completely played through Elden Ring with her brain power. Next up is Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and the upcoming DLC for Elden Ring. If you want to play with such an EEG sensor yourself: The device costs about 900 dollars and is free for sale.
