The NPCs in Hogwarts Legacy don’t have a real daily routine. But if you just stand around for 24 hours and watch them, the game world still seems alive at first glance. But who pays close attention to what the NPCs are actually doing?
A player asked himself this very question and started an experiment: Waiting at Hogsmeade station and documenting what’s happening around. This brings up a few curious observations.
Die Show an Hogsmeade Station
Despite the lack of a proper simulation, such as that found in Skyrim, Stalker or Dwarf Fortress, a lot happens around the train station in Hogwarts Legacy. But before we bore you with a thousand words, let’s show you the YouTuber’s experiment Another Weasley

What exactly is happening?
- A little girl starts playing a magical hopscotch game. And for the next 20 hours of play!
- She doesn’t stop when the train thunders by a few meters away, which strangely enough does not allow passengers to get on or off.
- Adult NPCs walk by or sit on benches.
- One is apparently trying to impress his neighbor with a Lumos magic. He leaves the scene shortly after, only to return later with a bag of candy.
- It’s getting dark and it’s starting to rain, which can’t stop the jumping girl from playing.
- Eventually several children leave the station, oddly enough walking straight home on the rails.
- Meanwhile, the man from before tries to entertain another woman by controlling a flying bug with his wand.
- As a new day dawns over Hogsmeade, another girl begins a round of hopscotch in the same spot.
Controversy um JK Rowling
Comments by Harry Potter author JK Rowling about trans people have repeatedly sparked controversy. This article explains Rowling’s statements and summarizes reactions from those affected. The author is not directly involved in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, but indirectly benefits from profits from the Harry Potter brand through the trademark rights.
In summary, Another Weasley notes that the train appears to arrive at the station only once a day. And that all NPCs at the station just wasting their time
.
It becomes clear that only a show is played for players to give the impression of a simulated game world. Incidentally, this is how most open-world games handle it in order to conserve hardware resources.
