However, he did not have to leave his desk for this, because Kurt has been moving through one and the same Minecraft world since 2011.

But where is the YouTuber headed so purposefully? Shortly after Minecraft was released in 2011, Kurt decided to push the seemingly infinite worlds to the limit and travel to their edges. Because Minecraft inventor Notch had claimed that it was impossible to achieve this. Reason enough for Kurt to accept this challenge. He uploaded his first video to YouTube in March 2011:

Over time, the number of viewers who followed the unusual travel journal from Minecraft grew. In 2016, Kurt’s journey was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records longest journey in Minecraft accepted.
It will probably be at least another decade before it arrives at its destination. Kurt also takes his time with his project and after each year erects a monument at the end of the distance covered. At least Kurt has now 5 million blocks left behind and thus still more than half of the way ahead. Even after more than a decade, the YouTuber is not about to give up. Because the trip now has another purpose: Kurt collects donations for charitable purposes from the spectators. This has already raised more than $400,000.
