Have you played Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox in the last few days and left your account there? This is “normal”, but Microsoft has taken care of the problem.
Over the past few days, Baldur’s Gate 3 players on Xbox have experienced an experience they wish they could have done without. Without warning, Microsoft issued several bans after some people spread sequences that were a little dated, even though they were allowed by the game. Except these clips violated the new moderation policy introduced by the Redmond company to prevent toxic behavior. As the process progressed, some received multiple penalties, which even increased and amounted to up to a year of account suspension. Larian Studios has caught wind of this somewhat eccentric situation and has something new on the subject.
Xbox doesn’t like nudity in Baldur’s Gate 3
As a result, some players have experienced a funny mishap while playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox. Without knowing or intending it, several of them violated Microsoft policies. According to current rules, sharing “sexual content” of any kind is prohibited. You can have sex with a bear while playing BG3 on Xbox Series X|S, but it must remain private. The developers on X quickly came forward with details and promised that the sanctions would be lifted.
“The Microsoft team is aware of the issue and is working on a solution. In the meantime, if you would like to download clips, please disable adult content. Baldur’s Gate 3 players whose clips were flagged on Xbox should start seeing their sanctions lifted ». As a reminder, if Microsoft rules are not followed, the restrictions will result in the deactivation of all online services. And if you go too far, the account can even be permanently banned and you will lose all your purchased games and applications.
However, as indicated by the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, Microsoft will move forward as these are not intentional incidents. The first player to complain wasn’t even aware that the clips were available for everyone to see. But since prevention is better than cure, there is a solution to avoid such an arbitrary ban.
Larian Studios’ intervention allowed players to have their say on these undeserved bans. The problem, however, is that this can happen in Baldur’s Gate 3, as in any other game with so-called adult content, including, for example, nudity. And sometimes the user is unaware of this because their console automatically shares the clips publicly on the network – which is not tolerated. A problem that is due to the settings of this parameter and can therefore be solved by changing them.
If you want to slip through the cracks, you’ll need to turn off automatic uploading of video clips on Xbox. Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Go to “System Settings”
- Then go to “Settings” and “Recordings and Sharing”
- On the left side of the screen you will see “Automatic Downloads,” “To Xbox Network,” and “To OneDrive.” In both cases, select “Do not charge”.
And that’s it, you no longer risk getting banned for unintentionally sharing antics on BG3. Or other explicit content about other titles. Nevertheless, in this case, you can also contact Microsoft to explain your case, even if the sanctions are gradually lifted. Now that society is fully aware of this, there is no reason why it cannot do what is necessary. Recently, the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 encountered a bug that could ruin game progress. A fix is waiting to be deployed.
