If you’re planning to attend Diablo 4’s open beta weekend today, Blizzard has detailed what players should expect, and that’s “unprecedented queue times and traffic.” It’s not great for those eager to get into the game, that’s for sure, but I can’t say I’ve lowered my expectations from Blizzard.
In a post on the Blizzard forums, community manager PezRadar began by thanking those who participated in the early access beta. “They allow us to test at scales we couldn’t test on our own, such as server capacity, class balance, availability, accessibility, etc.”
He then went on to say that Blizzard intends to learn more and build expectations for players this open beta weekend. The first is queue time.
“When we open our doors to everyone again this Friday, we are expecting a lot of people. Queues can be long, especially on Fridays and regional window peaks on our first release. Last weekend helped us predict this weekend’s capacity, which we will use to intentionally stress our systems in preparation for the release.”
PezRadar continued, “In summary, while we know this can be frustrating, we need queues to properly stress test our services, and we’re designing to ensure we have them at some point.”
It’s best to set some expectations early on, but it’s better to find out about any issues this weekend than when it’s released. Please be patient with us as we hope to have lots of players on board to help test our game and infrastructure. Thanks for helping us make Diablo IV the best it can be! #NecroMain https://t.co/kocaswsOzO

In addition to this, Diablo 4 betas may sometimes be taken offline for maintenance. “When we monitor the population or encounter an in-game issue that needs to be addressed, we may sometimes temporarily take the game offline to deploy infrastructure tweaks or fixes.”
Last but not least, PezRadar talks about bugs and feedback, and the importance of listening to players. If you run into any issues with the game this weekend–that is, when you manage to load–the Blizzard team is monitoring its forums, which have dedicated sections for bug reports and tech support.
There you have it, which isn’t entirely surprising, although Blizzard did say there won’t be connectivity issues during the game’s launch…if you manage to wait in the queue and jump into Diablo 4’s open beta this weekend , please let us know what you think so far!
