While the PS5 is already busy doing its rounds, there is not much to be seen of an update from PSVR. But now some details have leaked and they sound interesting.
Apparently there was another Developer Summit at Sony and apparently one of the participants couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Shortly afterwards, the first leaks about the new PSVR PS5 appeared on the YouTube channel PSVR Without Parole, i.e. about the apparently upcoming virtual reality glasses for the new console. So far there is neither a price nor a date, but at least the announcement that the details of the launch will be announced in early 2022.
But as a consolation, there are some technical details about next-gen VR. Accordingly, the VR kit should use a Fresnel OLED display with a resolution of 2,000 x 2,042 pixels per eye. So all together you can expect real 4K HDR VR. At 110 degrees, the Field of View should have more to offer than PSVR and Oculus Quest 2. The headset should also offer haptic feedback.
Apparently adaptive triggers and touch sensors are being considered for the controllers. This time, a set of controllers will be delivered with the headset. Sony is supposed to take a step away from pure VR titles and instead plan to produce AAA hybrid games in the future that can be played both via VR and on a normal screen. In addition, remasters of previous VR titles are being considered for the new headset and the PS5.
As usual with leaks, the information should of course be treated with caution until there are finally official statements about the features of the new PSVR.
