Epic Games is of course also preparing for the next console generation around PS5 and Xbox Series X and has now presented the corresponding further development of the popular and widespread Unreal Engine. The new Unreal Engine 5 has been specially adapted to the next-gen platforms – and the first results are truly impressive.

The presentation also brings the first gameplay of the new Sony home console with it, because although Sony has not yet officially presented it, the first technology demo of the Unreal Engine 5 is running on Sony's PlayStation 5.

Technical Director of Graphics Brian Karis and Special Projects Art Director Jerome Platteaux from Epic Games will guide you through the slightly more than nine-minute presentation. The showcase was now shown as part of the Summer Game Fest, a replacement for the E3.

The technology demo is called "Lumen in the Land of Nanite" and is intended to demonstrate the new possibilities in games with the Unreal Engine 5 on the PS5; the adventure is not actually published as a game in this form. The focus of the further developed engine is above all more detailed geometrical details as well as the dynamic lighting solutions.

Have fun with the first technology demo based on the PS5!
