Even if Sony is said to be staying away from E3 2023, the company is planning a summer showcase for the PlayStation 5 – and according to a well-known insider, it should be “massive”.
After overcoming the worst delivery bottlenecks, Sony plans to herald the second phase in the lifespan of the PlayStation 5 – and to get in the mood there should be a really huge showcase in the summer. At least that’s what one of the most renowned game insiders is promising.
What is meant in this case is the journalist Jeff Grubb, who has the best sources and is regularly spot on with his information even before it is officially confirmed. If Grubb is to be believed in this case, then Sony will even broadcast the event before E3 in June.
Jeff Grubb addresses the topic in his latest episode of Game Mess one, picking up on last week’s State of Play. “They’re saving their goodies for the PlayStation Showcase that’s going to take place before E3,” Grubb said. He then adds: “That should have happened last fall, but they pushed it back because their developers weren’t ready yet.”
According to the insider, that has changed in the meantime: “Now that these developers are ready, they should have a really massive show that really heralds the second phase of the PlayStation 5.”
In this context, Grubb does not become more specific as to which developers Sony has been waiting for. The company has several first-party studios working on AAA titles. Insomniac Games, for example, is busy with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, which have already been announced since the September 2021 showcase.
