Almost since the release of the Playstation 5, the question of a PS5 Pro has been floating around. Now this question gets new nourishment through the report of a hardware channel.
The source of the rumors is the RedGamingTech channel, which has been pretty accurate in terms of AMD product information so far – and after all, there’s a lot of AMD in the PS5. The channel claims that a PS5 Pro is currently in the works, which in fact wouldn’t be too surprising.
RGT also wants to know specific time periods. A publication in the period from the end of 2023 to the beginning/mid of 2024 should be targeted. Not implausible, the PS4 Pro came out about three years after the PS4.
The channel also wants information on performance. According to this, the PS5 Pro should have about twice the performance of the basic version, and in the ray tracing area even up to 2.5x as much. Quite possible, AMD still has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to ray tracing. Image improvement technologies similar to FSR or DLSS are also an issue. The interaction with the previously unannounced PSVR 2 should also be optimized for the PS5 Pro.
Well, so far these are all rumours. Let’s wait and see what’s in store for us in the future.
