The longer the new consoles have been on the market, the more small diseases pop up. Now it turns out that there is no way to save game saves from the PS5 to USB media.
Once again a detail appears on the PlayStation 5 that might annoy one or the other player. Apparently it is currently not possible to save games from the PS5 on a USB stick or a USB hard drive.
What is even more annoying about the situation is that the alternative is chargeable, namely saving games in the cloud, which is only possible with an active PS Plus subscription. Your only backup option for savegames is practically behind a paywall.
With the PlayStation 4 it was still easily possible to stash saved games in the cloud, on the console or on a USB data carrier. The transfer of saved games from the PS4 to the PS5 is also possible with a USB stick or something similar. But not the other way around.
For most players this shouldn’t be a break in the leg, but if you like to back up your scores or don’t have continuous internet access, you should look a little down the drain. Sony has not yet commented on this.
