On the sidelines of the announcement of new business figures, Sony was also able to announce the next milestone for the PlayStation 5.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 has reached the next sales milestone. On the occasion of the announcement of the business figures for the second quarter of the current fiscal year, the console units sold were also updated.
Accordingly, the PlayStation 5 sold a further 3.8 million units in the last quarter, meaning the console has broken the 65 million sales mark since its initial release and now stands at 65.5 million copies. However, it must also be noted that compared to the previous quarter, sales figures fell by a whopping 29 percent.
Compared to the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 5 doesn’t do badly, even if it lags behind its predecessor a bit. At the same point in the console cycle, the PS4 had sold around 67.5 million units, so it is currently around 2 million units ahead of the PS5.
Sony PlayStation had previously emphasized that it expected hardware sales figures to decline because the PS5 was now simply in the second half of its product cycle. What is positive is that the number of monthly active users rose to a new record high of 116 million in the second quarter.
