Sony has overturned its plans for the Game Developers Conference this year. However, the reason for this is different from that of the E3.

Also at the Game Developers Conference 2020 in March, Sony will shine with absence. The company cites concerns about the corona virus as the reason for this move. It is the second event that Sony has canceled in the coming weeks due to the epidemic. The PAX East at the end of February also has to do without the Japanese. In a statement opposite Games Industry says Sony: "We made the difficult decision to cancel our Game Developers Conference due to growing concerns about COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus)."
This is considered the best option since the situation regarding the virus and worldwide travel restrictions changes daily. Health and safety came first. At the same time, Sony emphasizes that it will of course continue to work with the GDC in the future. Anyone who hoped for news about PlayStation 5 will be disappointed again.

Incidentally, Sony is not the only company that is taking consequences from the spread of the corona virus. Facebook's gaming division, to which Oculus belongs, will also omit the GDC. However, there will be an announcement during the event. The organizers of the Game Developers Conference have announced that about ten exhibitors from China have withdrawn their participation. Others send their colleagues from the USA instead.
The corona virus has already led to the cancellation of the Taipei Game Show. Various e-sports events were also not carried out as planned so as not to increase the risk of spreading the lung disease.
