Ugh, there’s a lot of rumbling in the Sony box. There have been massive disruptions on the PlayStation Network for several hours and there is currently no end in sight.
Update
Good news, the status page shows everything in the green area again, so the problems seem to have been solved. Hopefully not just in the short term. A statement on the causes is still pending.

Seems like Sony had a really bad start to the week. On Monday there were initially problems that flooded the PS5’s home screen with tons of advertising after a glitch apparently crept into a UI update. That has now been fixed, but now there is further trouble.
For several hours now, the PlayStation Network services have been refusing… well, service in almost all areas. Loud Statusseite des Playstation Network Account management as well as games and social networks, video and store are affected. Only Playstation Direct is apparently still willing to work. In short: almost nothing works. Pretty much all Playstation platforms are also affected.
Other than the terse notification that the problem is being worked on, there has been precious little sign of life from Sony. There is currently no statement to be found on the official Playstation account either, which doesn’t exactly reduce the frustration of the affected players. When it comes to communication in the event of problems, Sony is currently not winning any prizes anyway. Sony remained silent for a long time about the last firmware update, which caused massive graphics problems and crashes in some games.
Accordingly, there are currently an increasing number of angry comments on social media. It is currently impossible to predict how long the disruption will last and there is nothing to help but to just wait and see. According to comments on X/Twitter, there are initial signs that something is happening, but the status page is still unchanged. So, make yourself a coffee and be patient.
