News business PlayStation: Sony comments on Nixxes buyout and PC ports
Not long ago, Sony announced the acquisition of Nixxes, a studio specializing in PC ports. Jim Ryan, who heads Sony Interactive Entertainment, recently came back to the purpose of this acquisition that got him talking.
PC porting has made Nixxes Softwares its spearhead for years: The Dutch company has mainly worked on Square Enix games, from Tomb Raider to Deus Ex to Marvel’s Avengers and Hitman. Obviously interested in his talents, Sony recently acquired them and confirmed Jim Ryan, head of the (large) Sony Interactive Entertainment division, to the Japanese magazine Famitsu what we already suspected: Nixxes is now part of PlayStation Studios to offer exclusively PC products.
Obviously for some, but what is now official and proves that Nixxes should not create new titles from the start. The Japanese giant has also insisted on its desire to expand its games to PC with new ports
Jim Ryan thus confirms the gradual reversal of Sony’s policy of opening up to other universes first with crossplay, then with PC ports. Is there a certain PlayStation exclusivity you’d like to see on Steam?
