It went quickly: After speculation about a new State of Play at the end of January gained momentum in the last 24 hours, Sony has now done its thing and officially announced the format. The duration of the transfer has now also been determined.
Just this morning we reported on fresh speculation from the night that Sony could be broadcasting a new edition of the PlayStation State of Play video format this week. January 31, 2024 was even mentioned as a possible date – and as it now turns out, this rumor is correct.
Via PlayStation Blog In the evening, Sony got down to business and officially confirmed the PlayStation State of Play. After Microsoft recently presented its Xbox Developer Direct, Sony will now follow suit on January 31, 2023 at 11:00 p.m. German time and also present upcoming titles for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR 2.
If you want to be there, you can via the Sony channels on YouTube, Twitch and TikTok follow the corresponding stream. According to official information, this will be “over 40 minutes long” and will also include various guest appearances. The first titles have now also been officially confirmed for the format: There will be detailed insights into both Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, both of which will appear in 2024 for PlayStation 5. Further appearances of PS5 and PSVR 2 titles that will be launched this year are also planned.
The now confirmed appearance of Rise of the Ronin and the date of course also make the rest of the leak a whole lot more trustworthy. Accordingly, there is a good chance that the following titles will actually be part of the screening:
- Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth
- Silent Hill 2 (Remake)
- Until Dawn (Remake)
- Death Stranding 2
- Metro (new shooter part)
- Judas
- Sonic Generations (Remaster)
Other potential candidates such as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Fairgame$ from Haven Studios or Marathon from Bungie cannot be ruled out. While this is speculation, in the last few hours there has also been increasing evidence of a possible appearance by Concord from Firewalk.
