In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, reiterated that they are currently working on a number of new titles for PS4 and PS5. Numerous new brands are also planned.
Most recently, the news went around that Sony has more than 25 new games for PS5 and PS4 in the works. Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, examined this fact in a detailed interview on the PlayStation Blog and confirmed some details.
Half of the more than 25 new titles are therefore completely new game brands; the other half is based on franchises that PlayStation fans are already familiar with, including God of War, Horizon and Gran Turismo. So overall you have a lot to do.
Hulst underscores the importance of new game brands in another statement: “New IPs are extremely important to us. After all, new IPs keep breathing new life into the gaming landscape. The development of new IPs is only part of our strategy. Ultimately, we want I want PlayStation Studios not to shy away from taking a risk. I want us to honor the history of the PlayStation brand, continually push the boundaries of gaming and continue to develop meaningful games in the future. And by that I mean Games that probably wouldn’t have been made anywhere else. “
The makers of Days Gone, the Bend Studio, are working on such a new IP, for example, using the systems of the open game world from Days Gone. Hulst says: “For example, the developers at Bend Studio are currently working on a very exciting new IP that is really close to their hearts. In doing so, they are making use of the well-thought-out open-world systems that they developed for Days Gone I’m really excited for Bend Studio. “
With Sony staying away from E3 2021 again this year, it remains to be seen when new titles for PS5 and PS4 will be presented. We will of course keep you up to date on this.
