There’s a non-zero chance that there are more people out there, so listen up: it appears that if you record any of the more exciting scenes in Baldur’s Gate 3 on your Xbox, your account may be banned.
Before we move on, let’s all agree to be mature here, okay? I’ve seen the fan art you reposted, so don’t judge the people on Reddit who were banned for recording some of Baldur’s Gate 3’s more intimate scenes. As user Daddy-Vegas shared on the gaming subreddit (great name), it appears that recording a clip for “some naked camping time fun,” as they put it, may get your account temporarily banned.

“By default, Xbox will upload all recorded clips to the server for easy sharing,” Daddy-Vegas explained in a Reddit post. “Each clip was considered a different violation and resulted in my account being banned for a year. I’m hoping the appeals process will resolve this, but so far; I can’t play any games that require an internet connection (basically earning For all the money I’ve invested in the MW3 over the past 6 months it’s even worthless).”
Daddy-Vegas also shared a screenshot showing the strike, with the first video giving them a 3-day strike, the second video extending the strike to 22 days, and then the third video increasing it significantly to 366 days, Make it a one-year ban. If Xbox doesn’t want users to record moments like this, it should just use a system similar to PlayStation’s, which prevents recording in certain scenarios (although this is usually up to the developer). It seems a little silly if someone is banned for something the console allows you to do without any restrictions.
Unfortunately for Daddy-Vegas, another user also received a three-day ban for the same thing and said appeals would not work for them. This isn’t the only problem with playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox, as there are still some save issues that haven’t been resolved, but at least there are workarounds.
