Upcoming Blade Runner 2049 The sequel “Blade Runner 2099” has already confirmed its cast and has begun filming.
A few months ago, it was reported that The Good, The Bad and the Ugly actress Michelle Yeoh would star in Blade Runner 2099, and a month later, Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer would join the cast. So far, there has been no word on the Amazon Prime series, but according to Variety, the cast seems to have come together. The cast joining the project sounds exciting, including Dimitri Abould (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) and Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy) as series regulars, as well as Caitlin Rose Downey (Sister 2), Daniel Rigby (The Traitor Nell), Johnny Harris (A Gentleman in Moscow), Amy Lennox (Only Child), Sheila Atim (The Woman King), and Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon).

Plot details are really scarce at this point, though Michelle Yeoh will apparently play a character named Olwen, who is said to be a replicant who is nearing the end of her life. The title obviously suggests that the story will take place after Blade Runner 2099, starring Ryan Gosling, but that’s about it. However, the series has now begun filming in Prague, so I imagine that more concrete news will be announced soon, but who knows when that will be. Blade Runner 2099 will also mark the first time the series has been adapted for television, and will be the first new live-action project in seven years (there may be more to come if it comes out next year, which is likely).
Last year, Annapurna Interactive also announced that it would be making its first one-hour game, which happens to be an adaptation of Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth. As you can guess again, it’s set between the original Blade Runner and 2049, but again, details are scarce about this prequel. Why is Blade Runner so secretive?
