Surely you've ever found certain parallels between Pokémon and Jurassic Park. Many creatures have a appearance similar to that of dinosaurs. Just take a look at the dragon, Tyranitar and a long list. In fact, dinosaur video games came out later that tried to mimic the Pokémon GO formula to capture them all. Now fans have discovered that the Aerodactyl's origin is heavily influenced by Jurassic Park, the movie that generated the fever for these creatures. Despite this, at some point Game Freak wanted to uncheck that idea when it removed a detail from Charmander so that it didn't look like a dinosaur.
But this origin is not just about the obvious resemblance of Aerodactyl with a Pterodactyl. The user Dr. Lava has revealed a conceptual image of your first design which represented him next to a piece of amber with a fossilized mosquito. The story sounds to you, right? Indeed, it refers to Steven Spielberg's film in which John Hammond explains how they extracted the dinosaur blood to rebuild its DNA.
Aerodactyl Origins:
In the 1993 film Jurassic Park, dinosaurs are resurrected from DNA extracted from mosquitoes trapped in ancient amber.
In 1996's Pokemon Red & Green, Aerodactyl is resurrected from Old Amber, a key item whose official artwork shows a mosquito trapped inside. pic.twitter.com/iWLGiaIQJu

In 1996 Red and Green Pokémon, you can resurrect the Aerodactyl with old Amber, a key object to get this fossil Pokémon. Now, you can even get fossils in Pokémon Sword and Shield to rebuild some Pokémon of this type. All with the same idea: get everyone.
