happy Birthday, Pokemon Go! Today, on the occasion of the mobile phone’s sensational fifth birthday, it was revealed that the game’s revenue reached an impressive $5 billion.
According to a new report from Sensor Tower, iOS and Android games developed by Niantic have recorded amazing revenues in the five years since they were first launched.
The game first landed on handheld devices in 2016 and generates an average of $1 billion in revenue per year (of course, there are ebbs and flows). This is what 632 million downloads can do for you!
The report stated that US$1.9 billion of the game’s revenue came from the United States. 52% of its total revenue is obtained through Android, and iOS accounts for 48%.
Even in the first half of 2021, when the world was still shrouded by a pandemic, the game managed to absorb $641.6 million between January and June.
It is worth mentioning that this impressive number is actually the best start of the game so far this year. Prove that the momentum of Niantic’s first mainstream breakthrough geolocation AR game has not been exhausted.
A cursory look at the figure below from Sensor Tower can prove that the appeal and appeal of the game has not declined over time-this kind of steady growth is the envy of global game publishers. And the appeal of Pokemon Go shows no signs of slowing down in the short term.
