Niantic has announced that Ultra Beasts Buzzswole, Xurkitree and Pheromosa will make their Pokemon Go debuts at Pokemon Go Fest 2022 events in Seattle, Sapporo and Berlin.
Following the recent release of the giant rock and poisonous water-type jellyfish Nihilego, these three new Ultra Beasts will be available to trainers who complete exclusive special research missions.
If you can’t attend, Niantic says all players will be able to add Ultra Beasts to their collection soon, saying “they will be available worldwide later in the GO season.”
Players in Berlin will be able to grab Pheromosa, while trainers in Seattle will get Buzzwole, and Sapporo will be able to find Xurkitree.
In addition to offering special exclusive research questlines that end with rare and powerful Legendary Pokemon, Pokemon GO Fests offer even more opportunities to catch flashes and acquire region-specific Pokemon. During these events, players will also have half their egg hatching distance and be able to catch cowboy hat slugs and unknown A, B, E, L, R, S, T, and U.
Pokemon Go Fest Berlin will be held first from July 1-3, Pokemon Go Fest Seattle will be held from July 22-24, and then Pokemon Go Fest Sapporo will be held from August 5-7.
After the 2020 and 2021 editions actually take place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this will be the first Pokemon GO festival to take place in a real-world location in 2 years.
Additionally, another virtual global Pokemon Go Fest finals event will take place on Saturday, August 27, which Niantic says will go some way to addressing the disappointing shiny luck some players reported during the recent Virtual Go Fest.
The first 2 Pokemon Go Fests were held in Chicago in 2017 and 2018, before establishing the current triple destination model in 2019 with another event in Chicago, alongside similar events in Dortmund and Yokohama.
Niantic rolled out a number of features to make Pokemon Go easier to play remotely during the global pandemic, but they were gradually removed as COVID measures were lifted. This turned out to be a controversial move among players who believed Niantic was deliberately making the game worse for profit.
