Niantic says the 2022 Pokemon Go Fest finale event will go some way to addressing players’ disappointment with bad luck during the first Global Go Fest weekend.
Trainers around the world said they felt the Shiny Pokemon encounter rate was too low during the special 2-day event (costs $15), with many players reporting much better harvests during previous festivals and community days .
Global Go Fest 2022 was also plagued by a bug that allowed Pokemon attracted to incense to appear on the map when they had disappeared, further exacerbating the problem for Shiny Hunt players.
“I don’t think we underestimated player interest in Shiny Pokemon,” Michael Steranka, Pokemon Go Live Product Director, told iGamesNews during a recent Q&A.
“When we created the design for the entire Go Fest experience, we wanted to keep all 3 live event days in mind. So a single ticket purchased by a player not only gave them access to the first 2 global weekends earlier this month, but also included The upcoming finale at the end of August.
“We’ve got some huge surprises in store for players in the finals, and we do think players will come away this summer feeling like they’ve had an incredible Go Fest considering all things – including those that might sh ine on them Good luck for the first weekend for anyone who was a little disappointed.”
The finals will take place on Saturday, August 27, and the original $15 Global Go Fest ticket price is included, as well as a single ticket price of $10.99.
This summer, Niantic will also be hosting 3 live Pokemon Go Fest events, which will introduce 3 new Ultra Beasts: Buzzwole in Seattle, Xurkitree in Sapporo and Pheromosa in Berlin.
These powerful ultra -dimensional pocket monsters can only be used in these real world activities at first, but will be open to all players at some time in the later period of the Go season. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed that Ultra Beasts will appear in the finale of the Global Go Fest, it may fit the schedule.
“We hope to announce more about the finals at a later date, but needless to say, we are viewing this event as the culmination of the entire Go season,” Steranka continued.
“We hope this is a very positive moment for players, and they will be able to remember this affectionately this summer. We usually use our finale of the season as a good starting point for the next season. The next season will be Start after. More on that later, but these are some of the things you can expect to see in this year’s finale.”
