In its first update since its release on November 18, Pokemon Crimson and Violet finally fix bugs and open up ranked play.
If you’ve been online this week, there’s a good chance you’ve seen the plethora of bugs, glitches, and performance issues that Pokemon players have been facing. Very fortunately, the gameplay was good enough to ignore these issues, which certainly didn’t stop The Scarlet and Violet from selling 10 million copies in its first few days.
The game’s latest patch, version 1.1.0, requires 1GB of RAM to install and promises to fix some bugs that have been plaguing the game. “A variety of bug fixes and tweaks have been made to make your gaming experience more enjoyable,” reads the blog post detailing the patch.
No details on exactly which bugs were investigated, but hopefully my Pokemon no longer drop to the floor during battles. Maybe, just maybe, an NPC standing a foot away will run at over 5FPS.
In addition to this, ranked matches are now available through Versus Arena, which means players can battle their Pokémon for rankings. That said, Battle Stadium is currently affected by an issue that allows players to take advantage of the one-hit knockdown moves their Pokémon may have, and without a fix, ranked play will become redundant.
In Nintendo’s blog post, it says, “Ranked Battles Season 1 is about to kick off, allowing you to enjoy Ranked Battles via Versus Arena.” Then it goes on to say “Some bugs have been fixed,” so we’ll just One can hope that when we enter the rankings, we won’t be immediately carried away by moves such as Sheer Cold.
