As promised, a new Mystical Pokémon for sword and shield was announced for Pokémon Day today. It shares at least two aspects with one of the newest starters.

As every year, The Pokémon Company celebrates Pokémon Day, the day the Red and Green Editions first appeared in Japan. As promised, the silhouette of a new Mystic Pokémon promised some time ago was released. The new Pokémon bears the name Zarude and belongs to the types Unlight and Grass and the dark monkey Pokémon category. Visually, it resembles a monkey. It shares with Gortrom, one of the three starters from Galar, both one of the types and the species.
Vines are wrapped around his wrists and ankles, which he uses in combat. His type combination shows some interesting resistances, but is attacked by quadruple force beetle attacks.

Meanwhile, it does not have its own, completely new ability. Instead, Zarude knows Floraschild. It is therefore protected from attacks such as yawns or status changes such as paralysis in sunlight.
