Last night, police officers from the US state of Tennesse found something strange in the raid of a gang hideout alongside numerous weapons, bulletproof vests and a whole lot of cash: Four masks from the multiplayer shooter
Karl Lakner, former art director at Overkill and face of the character Dallas from the games, commented on Twitter:
I've had people tattoo the overkill bomb on their persons, and that's a weird experience seeing. But this, this is a whole other level of weirdness. One that genuinely forces you to reflect and consider life choices. (Photo courtesy of Trenton, TN PD) pic.twitter.com/kgMkQ4uZAT

"I've seen people get the overkill bomb tattooed on their bodies and that's a strange experience when you see that. But that's a whole other level of weirdness. One that really makes you reflect and force you to think about life choices. "
As reported by the Police Department on Facebook, two criminals are already in custody after the search, the prey and equipment were of course confiscated.
What about the masks?
Actually, Payday is about plan and carry out bank robbery with other players. These become more and more spectacular as the game progresses, allowing players to purchase new weapons, equipment, and the like. Among other things, also the characteristic masks that the characters put on during the attack so as not to be recognized.
The masks are the trademark of the shooter and are also recognized by the community outside of the players. So maybe the real perpetrators were inspired by the shooter?
Backgrounds unclear
Of course, it may well be that the robbers caught are not gamers or Payday fans. Maybe it was just a random choice or they liked the aesthetics of the clown masks, everything is possible. This find is always interesting.
The Heist series has been a bit quieter for some time, not least, because the developers had to file for bankruptcy. In another article, we cover how the team is now repositioning itself and how Payday 3 is actually doing.
