It is now a tradition for large websites to offer an insight into the behavior of their users at the end of the year. The most-watched films on Netflix, for example, or in the case of Spotify Wrapped, you even get your very own musical review of the year. But other platforms also like to look back on the past year.
The completely unknown adult entertainment platform Pornhub.com (at least no one had ever heard of it in a spontaneous poll in the editorial team) has now also published its statistics and now we know which video games and characters were searched for the most this year.
Completely unchallenged, Fortnite, Overwatch and Minecraft once again top the list of the most wanted video games. However, new at number 5 is the first-person shooter Atomic Heart, which was only released in February this year. According to our tester Andi, the game’s story didn’t really flow at the time, but developer Mundfish still seems to leave many players satisfied, at least with its character design.
The big winners and climbers in the ranking are, of course, the franchises that were also able to celebrate new releases or implementations in series format this year. This is how The Legend of Zelda, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario, God of War and The Witcher make it back onto the list.
The most wanted video game characters include long-running favorites like Lara Croft (always there since 1996, but back then even more angular), Samus Aran (Metroid; but only if you need less than 3 hours) or the great Lady Dimitrescu, as well as practically all the female ones Cast from Overwatch and Genshin Impact represented.
Less expected, but still absolute classics are also Sonic (6th place) and plumber Mario (8th place), who was probably only overtaken by the blue hedgehog because he had to lay a pipe somewhere along the way.

Whether the first place among the characters should also be called a classic is at least questionable. Although power woman (can at least kick cars with her legs) and Interpol agent Chun Li made her first appearance in Street Fighter II from 1992, she explicitly appears in the statistics as a skin in Fortnite. So if you want to slip into the shoes of the most popular video game character on Pornhub.com, it will only cost you 1,600 V-Bucks.
So if you don’t know what else to talk to your family about at Christmas, then you now have a few interesting fun facts that you can use to show off.
