Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the future movie was by then very discreet. We were just entitled to a leak that occurred during the Tribal film festivalwhere learned that the action could take place in North America and direct a certain Kee. The production would be fine 75% complete, and the film would have been shot in the utmost secrecy, and production is currently reviewing the rush for processing. Commenting on the intentions of the film, John Davis says:

We’re getting closer to what worked in the first Predator. It is the ingenuity of a person who does not give up, who is able to observe, draw conclusions and ultimately fight against a stronger and better armed force. (…) Looking at the rushes we understand how unique his vision (that of Dan Trachtenberg) is. It has its own language and is new, cool and interesting.

In reality, it will look more like The Revenant than any other movie in the Predator saga. You will understand what I mean when you see it. (And regarding the assembly It all depends on (him). It was intended as an adult movie but could easily become a PG-13. I think I would find out when all of this is done.

The producers don’t want to say when the film will take place, but they explain anyway that the helicopters didn’t exist and that this is how it will be at least “as intense as The revenant“. But in any case, the two producers seem very confident :

We started designing the film while we were making the last The Predator. Dan came to me with an idea and a scriptwriter while we were making the film. Emma Watts was instrumental in telling me, “You know what, we’re going to get it into development right now. Let’s do it now.” You couldn’t make one movie and prepare another at the same time, especially when one marked the end of the franchise and the other went back to basics. So everything happened in the utmost secrecy. You will be surprised.

The movie will be second best, or maybe first, or even on the same level as the first in my opinion. I think the first one was great and interesting. I understand what worked, but I feel like we never got back to it. (…)

Now we just have to wait for pictures, trailers, the casting announcement and a release date. Sounds like a lot, but if the producers’ words are to be believed, the news is probably not long overdue.
