One cannot sit quietly and enjoy his reign in Wakanda without a threat stalking the African kingdom. Black Panther He will have to deal with a great villain like the mythical Predator in the new series that Marvel is preparing for summer 2024.
Predator vs. Black Panther is the name given to the project that will show us T’Challa’s adventure led by screenwriter Benjamin Percy. The creative has explained to io9 that “the battle for the throne between T’Challa and Killmonger” is a plot that has been based on for this comic. “I’m channeling something similar to that here, but on a cosmic scale. This Predator King has two sons who are at war with each other. Vibranium could be the weapon that determines their dispute,” Percy clarifies.
It was in 2023 when we could already see the alien confront Logan in Predator vs. Wolverinebut Percy wants to make a clear distinction in the case of Black Panther:
“If the first installment was about the hunt for a man, it made sense to raise the stakes and make this comic a battle for a kingdom. There are several reasons why Black Panther is a great adversary and Wakanda is a great setting (including the fact that the perimeter shield, when blocked, creates a hunting reserve).
Add vibranium to the mix, and you have a really interesting (and fresh) Predator narrative. The Yautja covet their weapons and trophies, and the kingdom’s vast reserves of this rare cosmic metal would be impossible to resist.”
An interesting detail of Predator vs. Black Panther is that Percy is developing the work as if it were canon, since “I want people to feel that history matters, as if the Yautja had been in the 616 all along, hunting.” In addition, he has assured the media that he already has in mind who will be next to get into a fight.
“Not only do I know what the next confrontation will be, but I have plans for the next one. We’ll see how everything develops, but I’m sure we’re ready for the third story (which I’m very excited about).”
