Assassin’s Creed – June 21st

Prime Video: Assassin's Creed, Hunger Games, Vikings films, series not to be missed in June 2021

Assassin’s Creed, which hit theaters in 2016, is the film adaptation of the Ubisoft license of the same name. Directed by Justin Kurzel, it portrays the adventures of Callum Lynch, the descendant of a string of assassins who allegedly died after his death sentence. Rescued by Abstergo, he has to return to his genetic memory and play Aguilar de Nehra, an assassin who worked during the Spanish Inquisition. His goal is to locate the Apple of Eden, an artifact left by those who were there before that contains great power. The assassin is played by Michael Fassbender, accompanied by Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons. Obviously, the eternal struggle between the Templars and the Assassins is at the center of the topic, through an era that Ubisoft games have not explored. The general opinion of the critics is that Assassin’s Creed ranks above most movie adaptations of video games, but suffers from CGI overload, over-realization, and too much approach to thriller category that doesn’t suit it. Overall, however, the actors’ performances were found to be convincing.
