The remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is still a long way off, but Ubisoft is firmly opposed to rumors that the project will be discontinued.
Recently there has been plenty of speculation online that Ubisoft may have stopped further development of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remakes, which is still a long time coming – but that’s not the case, as the company is now emphasizing. A publication of the project is still planned, but it will still take more time than originally planned.
Opposite to PC Gamer the developer and publisher now confirmed the next shift; the remake is therefore no longer intended for publication in the fiscal year 2023. Accordingly, you no longer need to expect a release of the game until March 31, 2023.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time – Remake was originally presented in September 2020 and was due for release in January 2021. Since then, it has been postponed to March 2021 and then indefinitely before a 2022 release was announced. Nothing will come of it either, after the development work was transferred from Ubisoft Pune to Ubisoft Mumbai and finally to Ubisoft Montreal. The latter was already responsible for the original Sands of Time trilogy.
“As a consequence, we are no longer targeting a release in fiscal year 2023 and the game will initially be unlisted. Therefore, if players wish to cancel their pre-order, they are welcome to contact their retailer. They will be kept up to date on the further development of the project kept up to date,” says Ubisoft.
