The universe of PUBG is getting bigger. The development studio Krafton is working on a new shooter, the working title Project Cowboy wearing. This is reported, among other things, by the Korean information portal Bloter. It will take a while before the game is released.
Unfortunately there are no pictures or trailers for Project Cowboy yet, but some information is already in the developer’s job advertisements. We collect what is known about the Cowboy-PUBG so far.
What kind of game is Project Cowboy going to be?
According to the well-known PUBG insider PlayerIGN, Project Cowboy was inspired by the popular Western Custom mode, in which players on the Miramar desert map only compete against each other with weapons from the Wild West – for example with revolvers and the Winchester 94.
Now it should become an independent game, including open western game world. Apparently, Krafton doesn’t want to leave the Wild West cake entirely to Red Dead Redemption 2.

Job descriptions on the developer’s website already reveal that the game for PC and consoles appears and should enable crossplay. It is not yet clear whether only PS5 and Xbox Series X are meant or whether Project Cowboy will also join the LastGen.
An official one Release period It doesn’t exist yet either, but you will probably need a lot of patience – apparently Project Cowboy is still in a very early stage of development. We don’t expect the game before 2023, but of course we’re happy to be surprised.
And what about the leaked sci-fi spinoff, Project Vertical? This is also supposed to be an open world shooter in the PUBG universe, just with a future setting. According to PlayerIGN, Vertical is under development at PUBG Studio, a subsidiary of Krafton. It could also be PUBG 2.0 – or several spin-offs are in development at the same time. We will of course stay tuned for you!
