Project Q: Ubisoft’s PvP title is now officially scrapped

officially, project, PvP, Scrapped, title, Ubisofts

The red pencil continues to circle at Ubisoft. The publisher announced via Discord that the development of the PvP title Project Q has now been scrapped.

It was only in April 2022 that Ubisoft surprisingly announced a third-person battle arena title called Project Q, which was primarily intended to compete with Fortnite. The game was still in an early stage of development at the time, followed by extensive playtesting.

Now we won’t see the finished product anymore. Via the game’s Discord channel, Ubisoft announced that Project Q will no longer be developed. The announcement states:

“The first closed test was a huge milestone for us because of all the work the team put into it, your incredible support and your amazing reception. We loved the incredible energy on this discord, it was our fuel for the project. Your feedback has been a true gift and has allowed us to grow as developers to do our best for you, our players. All these warm moments make this announcement more difficult: unfortunately we have to cancel our upcoming closed tests as project Q is no longer going forward being developed. That also means we have to shut down this Discord server.”

Ubisoft has been trying to break into the battle arena and battle royale genres for a while, but hasn’t been able to come up with anything presentable so far. Hyper Scape was one of the few attempts that finally came onto the market, but the game was taken off the net again after 18 months because it could not convince the players. Allegedly, Ubisoft recently had a whopping 12 PvP titles in the pipeline.
