Game news PS2 Eclipse: A modder combines PS2, PS Vita and Switch into one portable model
This curiosity comes straight from the head of the modder GingerOfOz. His name may mean something to you as it isn’t his first try and made a name for itself thanks to its Game Boy format portable Wii.
Called the “PS2 Eclipse”, this portable version of the PS2 includes a pared-back PS2 motherboard and some personalized printed circuit boards for the occasion. So you can play your favorite PS2 games anywhere you want.
The set fits in a 3D printed frame and is equipped witha 5 inch 480p screen as well as Parts from other consoles like the PlayStation Vita, from which the Eclipse takes over the buttons, and the switch for the joysticks.
The PS2 Eclipse has other coquettes Loudspeaker, headphone jack and battery level indicator, their maximum duration around half past one.
Definitely neat, This wearable model is far from perfect as the shoe pinches in certain places. Although the PS2 Eclipse uses the original PS2 hardware rather than the emulation that allows you to play 4000+ games, The latter slowly loads games from a USB stick.
The same applies to the loading times. Besides, the model sometimes has problems recognizing the controller and some games even won’t load. However, GingerOfOz does not give up and hopes to be able to solve this problem sooner or later using software.
In contrast to his portable Wii, which he produced around fifty copies in the last two years, GingerOfOz has no plans to build, let alone sell, any more PS2 Eclipse models.
To learn more about GingerOfOz, all technical aspects and the operation of the console are detailed on his blog.
