This NPD Group Published the November 2022 report covering sales of video game hardware, software and accessories in the United States.
According to NPD, total video game industry spending rose 3% year-over-year to $6.3 billion, driven by a 45% increase in hardware sales.
November brought year-to-date spending to $49 billion, down 6% year-over-year.
hardware PlayStation 5 led the way in both unit sales and dollar sales, growing 45% year-over-year to $1.3 billion. The PS5’s lead is due to an increase in retail sales compared to the same period in 2021, and it remains the best-selling hardware platform in 2022 in terms of year-to-date dollar sales. The Nintendo Switch leads in unit sales in 2022, and was No. 2 in both unit and dollar sales in November.
exist softwareCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was once again the best-selling game in dollar sales for the month and is now the best-selling game of 2022 so far.
It was followed by God of War: Ragnarok, which debuted in November, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Sonic Frontier, with Madden NFL 23 rounding out the top five.

spent on Accessories It increased by 10% year-on-year to US$289 million. The segment’s performance was driven by double-digit percentage growth in gamepad and headset/earphone spending. The best-selling accessory this month is the PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller Galaxy Purple.
