If our brains cannot clearly allocate spatial motion, which is difficult to achieve in a virtual world wearing VR glasses, then this will lead to imbalance and nausea. The sense of balance in our ears continues to perceive the real environment, but we see another scene in the VR world. These different signals can cause the aforementioned problems.
Sony patents show possible solutions
A patent now discovered by Sony can help players on PS4 and PS5 to control motion sickness in the future. This can be achieved with the display built into the VR glasses, which can track your eye movements and adjust the image accordingly. In addition, a gentle vibration motor should help stimulate our ears' sense of balance, so that the signal better matches what you see.
All these factors can actually help eliminate motion sickness in VR games, or at least alleviate them so that players who are severely affected can have more fun with this technology. However, applying for a patent does not guarantee that the technology will also be used.
Use PS5 in PSVR2?
If this technology can be applied to Sony's VR glasses, the PSVR2 system, which has been speculated for a long time, may be a candidate. Several patents related to PSVR2 have been found online.
