Good news PS5 & PC SSD Deal: 35% off the excellent FireCuda 530 1TB
Since the release of the very greedy Gran Turismo 5, storage space on the PS5 has become a scarce commodity. If you haven’t already, you’ll have to quickly think about installing an additional SSD in order to be able to continue playing all your favorite games without having to give up certain titles. In addition, the FireCuda 530, one of the fastest on the market, is offered on Amazon for 181 dollars instead of 275 dollars in normal times.
Seagate FireCuda 530 NVMe SSD with Heatsink, the best possible choice for your PS5
If the name FireCuda doesn’t mean much to you at first glance, maybe it will instantly appeal to you a little more if we mention Seagate, the parent company. FireCuda is the name of all the gaming products of the famous American brand, unlike BarraCuda products that are cheaper and intended for more versatile uses such as data storage.
After Seagate shaped the world of PC gaming with the FireCuda 520, one of the very first Gen 4 SSDs on the market, a few months ago Seagate released the FireCuda 530, one of the best and fastest in the world with its 7300 MB/s while reading. Above is the XPG GAMMIX S70 and Lexar NM800 running at 7400MB/s and that’s about it. A real monster, we tell you!
Normally available for the modest sum of $275 and compatible with PC and PS5, the Seagate FireCuda 530 1TB NVMe SSD is currently available on Amazon for just $181.

Small technical point for PS5 owners who know nothing or very little about IT, Sony prescribes a very specific standard to add additional storage to the machine, namely a Gen 4 NVMe M.2 SSD ranging in size between 30mm and 110 mm long and 22 mm wide (max. 25 mm with heatsink). Then Sony recommends a minimum read and write speed of 5500MB/s, but as long as you insert a Gen 4 SSD it will work.
Unsurprisingly, the FireCuda ticks all the boxes and then some. It already has an integrated heatsink and offers blazing speeds of 7300 MB/s reading and up to 6000 MB/s writing (6900 MB/s even for the 2 and 4 TB models). We’re about 13x faster than a SATA SSD, and we’re not even talking HDDs.

Everything you need to know about SSDs for PS5
How to increase PS5 storage?
There are two ways to expand your PS5’s storage, via an external hard drive (HDD) or via an SSD to plug into your console. However, games can only be run with an internal SSD.
How do I install an internal SSD on the PS5?
You will need a #1 Phillips screwdriver to do this. After making sure the console is unplugged, lay it down and position it in front of you. Remove the cover, and then unscrew the SSD expansion slot cover. Remove screws, insert SSD and screw. All you have to do is close the cover of the space dedicated to the SSD and put the outer cover back on. Plug the console back in and follow the PS5 format utility instructions to be able to use your new SSD.
Which internal SSDs are compatible with the PS5?
Only a few PCIe 4.0 models can currently be used due to very strict rules for integrating an SSD. With a heatsink we will remember the WD_Black SN850 SSD, and then in the category without a heatsink you can count on the Sabrent 2Tb Rocket 4 Plus, the Samsung 980 Pro or the Crucial P5 Plus.
