The second part was already a miracle, now a tweet is causing speculation about a third part of Psychonauts. We will know more by June 11, 2023 at the latest, on this day Microsoft is hosting the Xbox Games Showcase.
The Psychonauts series is a typical lover thing. Fans have praised the creativity of Tim Schafer and his team’s platformers at Double Fine and the cleverly addressed mental health issues. Everyone else shrugs their shoulders and ignores the adventures of Raz and his friends. The second part took 16 years to come and could only be financed with crowdfunding.

The Double Fine studio is now part of Microsoft, but has not released a game since Psychonauts 2 in 2021. As is well known, the Xbox Games Showcase will take place on June 11, 2023 and a tweet from the Australian Xbox account is now causing all kinds of speculation among fans.
A grid image can be seen in which some letters are shown in a seemingly random order. In the best tic-tac-toe manner, H, S, X, Y, X, O, C, X and P are written here. Rearranging the letters yields a seemingly clever clue: PSYCHO XXX. Microsoft itself only writes: “WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? No, seriously, someone has to help us!”
According to some fans, another hint is hidden in the meta level of the tweet. In British English, Tic Tac Toe is called “noughts and crosses”. And this is where highly speculative word mathematics comes into play: PSYCHO plus noughts equals psychonauts. Yes, this is all a bit far fetched. But not completely outlandish, after all, this kind of cryptic announcement would definitely suit Double Fine.
Whatever exactly the developers and Microsoft are planning, we will find out by June 11, 2023 at the latest.
