Krafton continues to work on PUBG: Battlegrounds and now gives a preview of the next update. The gunplay meta is to be worked on in October.
From October 11th the new update to version 20.1 of PUBG: Battlegrounds will be available on PC, followed by a corresponding game version for consoles on October 19th. Above all, Krafton wants to deal with the topic of weapons and gunplay meta and has planned various changes and optimizations.
Among other things, there should be improvements to the weapon attachments, but also changes for firing from vehicles, a new ranking season, world and map updates and the general optimization of the game quality. Krafton himself states the most important innovations as follows:
Weapon Updates
- Weapon Attachments: With the Vertical Foregrip dominating PUBG: Battlegrounds maps as the preferred grip attachment, Update 20.1 will bring changes to the Thumb Grip, Angled Grip, Half Grip, Vertical Grip, and Light Grip. For a comprehensive list of grip attachment changes, see the patch notes.
- Fire from vehicles: There are many benefits of using a vehicle in PUBG: Battlegrounds. Because of these advantages in combat against other players, the team conducted tests and analyzed player feedback to reduce one-sided combat between vehicles and players on foot.
- driver’s seat: With the 20.1 update, the pistol reload animation for players controlling a vehicle from the driver’s seat will be canceled when the player operates the vehicle’s steering wheel. Handgun reload times will also increase by approximately 50%, while recoil will increase by approximately 20% for PC users.
- Passenger seats: Weapon recoil is increased by 20% for PC users.
- Scopes for weapons: To limit the utility of fully automatic ARs, the 8x and 15x scopes can now be fitted to the M16A4 and Mk47 Mutant. The 4x scope will also get three additional crosshair types for players to freely choose from and use their preferred type.
World and map updates
- PUBG Global Championship 2022: To celebrate this year’s PUBG Global Championship (PGC), esports items such as flags, billboards, and building decorations will be scattered across Erangel, Taego, and Miramar! The tournament can be viewed from November 1st.
- Blue Zone: Since it seems that players in the Blue Zone are more likely to be knocked out of competition in Deston compared to other maps, the Blue Zone’s radius rate and start delay in the first phase have been increased. In the second phase, both the radius and the damage increase per distance are increased. The jammer pack has also been adjusted for Miramar, Karakin, Haven, and Deston by increasing the damage done to the jammer pack by the Blue Zone.
Game quality adjustments
- Carrying Function: The carry function can now be used or canceled using the limited interaction buttons. Also made several bug fixes and improvements when using the carry function in certain situations.
- Screen Ping Mark: The on-screen ping marker now appears more transparent the closer a player or weapon crosshair is to the marker. The marker is now also available in ranked matches and disappears after 30 seconds.
- radio messages: Update 20.1 introduces new inventory-specific calls. Players can now notify teammates about the count of a specific item near them or in their inventory, as well as informing members when a player has a specific scope equipped or needs a specific item, attachment, or weapon.
Ranglistensaison 20
- Ranglistensaison: Season 20 introduces a new ranked season, meaning all rewards earned during ranked season 19 will be automatically added to players’ inventories once the new ranked season begins. When Season 19 is over and the server is under maintenance, all rewards except the Parachute Skin and Medal will be removed from the players’ Edit Profile page.
