Game news PUBG: On the way to a name change and a new business model?
With the latest news around PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Krafton makes it clear to us that he intends to evolve the game’s universe. Either through the video game on cell phones with PUBG: New State or through the animation with a creative behind the Castlevania series. But beyond that, it’s PUBG’s identity that Krafton wants to redesign.
Our colleagues left two days ago PC player mentioned the possible name change for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. A possibility that was confirmed in a statement in the course of the Krafton Group itself.
Krafton is actively developing the PUBG brand through a variety of new experiences in its universe. The rebranding of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in PUBG: Battlegrounds is the first step in realizing that vision. Other titles in the franchise will be named PUBG, as you’ll see in our upcoming game, PUBG: New State.
No longer call it PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, but PUBG: Battlegrounds. A name that is surely superfluous, but which follows Krafton’s wishes to expand the universe of his Battle Royale
Furthermore, PUBG: Battlegournds – yes, it takes getting used to – will be rolled out for free for one week in the next few days, between August 10th and 16th
That suggests a dataminer. The latter said that the Krafton company would evaluate player reactions to whether or not to adopt the free-to-play economic model.. As a reminder: Krafton discontinued PUBG Lite in April last year, a free and revised version intended for players with weaker PC configurations.
If the name change for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds appears to be in effect, it remains to be seen in the coming months whether the economic model will also change.
