Qobuz is now using the virtual currency “Qobuz Coins” in its download store. We explain how you top up the coins and use them to buy music.
The music service Qobuz is particularly popular with music lovers because the platform provides audiophile listeners with uncompressed audio quality, and many albums are also available in high-resolution Hi-Res quality. In addition to its streaming offering, Qobuz also offers a download store.
If you don’t want to take out a monthly subscription, you can also buy your favorite songs or albums. The main advantage here is that there are no ongoing costs and certain music may disappear from the platform due to licensing rights. Purchased songs and albums can easily be downloaded without DRM protection.
Previously, Qobuz relied on PayPal or credit card to purchase music. The aim is to simplify the purchasing system with the virtual currency “Qobuz Coins”. The coins are purchased in packages on the platform and can then be redeemed for songs and music.
This can be done both in the desktop application and the web player as well as via the website in the download store. We will explain the procedure in the browser below.

You can now download your music in various file formats (AIFF, WAV, FLAC, ALAC, MP3 and AAC) using the Qobuz downloader. Alternatively, you can also use the desktop app – but it doesn’t offer such a large selection of formats. Your purchases are also available to you in the mobile app under “My Qobuz” so you can listen to them on the go.
