What John Romero y John Carmack they are two true geniuses of the industry it is no surprise. The duo brought out all their talents during the 90s in id Software with works of a colossal level. DOOM turned heads with his wildness, but the same can be said of a franchise as legendary as Quake.
And it is that the bloody FPS is one of the best that the genre has given in its entire history and, as such, it has received the remastering it deserved. It is available on Xbox Game Pass
The story doesn’t matter, so all you need to know is that you are a Ranger willing to open the skulls of corrupted knights, amorphous ogres and all kinds of beings arising from the imaginary of dark fantasy. Four dimensions based on military bases, medieval castles, gothic cathedrals and dungeons from hell await us to put an end to an evil older than humanity itself.
The key to the remastering of Quake It lies not only in the brutal facelift it has received, but also in the fact that it includes the original expansion packs The Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity. In turn, it receives with open arms those made by MachineGames: Dimension of the Past and the completely new one, Dimension of the Machine.
Beyond the Campaign mode, we come across one that is also unprecedented, as is the case with Horde. There is little to explain, since it is exactly what you think: annihilating endless waves of abominations. The best of all? That all Quake content can be played in multiplayer, either local or online, and with cross-play between all platforms. Four or eight players, you decide how many soldiers you want at your side, although you can also face each other in custom games with dedicated servers.
The icing on the cake is offered by the possibility of downloading mods. Free, official and fan-made, they are all available for you to get the most out of id Software’s masterpiece.
